At Pennsic 51, the Pennsic Choirs Concert will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. in the Performing Arts Pavilion, also known as the Three Crowns Stage.

NOTICE! We have been informed by the DM of Cultural Affairs that the location of the PARC will change for Pennsic 51. We were provided with a limited number of options and it was determined that, as the tent known as the PARC will be moved to the southwest corner of the Battlefield, we will be holding our ensemble rehearsals there. At this time we anticipate offering the same classes and ensembles in the PARC as in previous years.

You may be wondering why the PARC is being moved. The reasons we were given include the desire to expand the dog park (we have suggested a different location), handicap accessibility (which we have consistently provided so we are not clear why this is a reason) and another undisclosed project. We were told that the KWC requested the move, which is a fabrication. We have spent a considerable amount of time appealing this decision, but were told that it is final and has the approval of the Mayor.

If you feel this move will preclude you from participating in the Known World Choir or other ensembles, please contact me privately.

There are four Pennsic Choirs:

  • The Pennsic Choir, which was the first Known World Choir, is for any interested singers, no audition required. It has ranged in size from 30-80 singers. While most of the singers are adults, teens and children who are capable of singing with adults for a two-hour daily rehearsal are welcome. For more information, click the "Pennsic Choir" menu item under "Pennsic." Help out your friendly director by pre-registering your probable participation HERE.
  • Chorulus Pennsicus is an audition-based select choir of 8-16 singers who perform more challenging or complex works. They rehearse for one and a half hours daily. For more information select the menu item for Chorulus Pennsicus from the "Pennsic" menu.
  • The Pennsic Youth Choir is an open choir for singers ages 12 to 19 who enjoy singing. They rehearse for one hour each day. The director of the Pennsic Youth Choir is SCA background-checked as required by Corpora. For more information, select the menu item for the Youth Choir from the "Pennsic" menu.
  • The Pennsic Children's Choir is an open choir for any children up to age 11 who enjoy singing. They rehearse for one hour each day. The director of the Pennsic Children's Choir is SCA background-checked as required by Corpora. For more information, select the menu item for the Children's Choir under the "Pennsic" menu.
  • The Youth Instrumental Consort is an open instrumental ensemble for any children up to age 18 who have had at least one year of instruction on their chosen instrument. They rehearse for one hour each day. The director of the Pennsic Children's Choir is SCA background-checked as required by Corpora. For more information, select the menu item for the Youth Instrumental Consort under the "Pennsic" menu.

All five ensembles perform in the Pennsic Choirs Concert, sometimes performing joint pieces.
