Known World Choir, Gulf Wars XXXII (2024)

Join the Gulf Wars Choir! If you're not familiar with Gulf Wars, you can learn more here: https://www.gulfwars.org.

The choir director, Mistress Arianna of Wynthrope, and assistant Lady Catriona of Castle Doune, will teach music by such luminaries as Adam de la Halle, Thomas Weelkes, Francesco Landini, Thomas Ravenscroft, and everyone's favorite, Anonymous!

Rehearsals will be from 10:30-noon on Monday through Friday mornings, with a short concert Friday afternoon and possible mini-concerts earlier in the week. Rehearsals and the Friday afternoon concert will be in the large performance tent.

Please pre-register here to help the director detemine which music works best for the voices we’ll have!

Black binders with the music will be made available for a fee of $5. You can also print the music yourself and bring your own binder. We recommend a 1/2" binder with a clear pocket on the outside, because there will be commemorative artwork by the hand of Lady Catriona of Castle Doune that you can place inside the clear front pocket! Sheet protectors are highly recommended, and will be included in binders purchased on site. Here's an example of the binder we'll be providing: Avery 3-Ring Binder

Learning Tracks for Gulf Wars 32

The audio files for each song have one measure of beats before the part begins, to help you get the note and the tempo. Audio tempos are deliberately slower than performance tempo to help with learning. Guidance on pronunciation will be provided during rehearsals, but you can also access YouTube videos for each song using the links above. YouTube videos may not reflect the tempo or interpretations that we will use; they're only provided for reference.
